Reconstructed Maxi Jean Skirt Alert.. I Made It!
March 28, 2017
As you may know, maxi skirts have been in trend for a while now! Season after season designers find a way to make them beautiful, comfortable, and fun. As some of you know I have been sewing for less than a year now and I mainly make skirts because they are my first love. Well I had been longing for a maxi jean skirt but could never find one any where. So I took to Youtube in search of the best way to make my dreams come true…. Finally get my maxi once for all. You may think making this skirt was hard but I truly beg to differ. All I needed was two pairs of old jeans, a tape measurer, scissors, my trusty sewing machine, some pins, and a few hours……
First, I cut along the inseam of the the first pair of jean so that I could have them completely open front and back.. (set them to the side)
Then, I took the other pair of jeans and cut them across each leg, right under the front and back pocket, and then proceeded to open up each pant leg making it flat. Make sure to measure if necessary so that you have enough to fill in the front and back of your jeans above.
Lastly, I took each panel (the two pant legs that I cut) and sewed one to the front of the first pair of jeans that I opened up. I then did the same thing to the back part allowing for each panel to cover the openings. I measured the skirt with the tape measurer to make sure that the skirt was then length that I wanted and voilà I was done!!!
